Cloud People release new winter EP, “The Wilds”

Cloud People - "The Wilds" - PATH9

"No Beginning And No End"

Cloud People’s 4th release in their series The Clouds explores the Pine Barrens in winter, like a long lonely walk while contemplating the mystery of existence.

Cloud People push into cooler atmospheres on worlds of dubbed-out space music; suited-up with snow-trudging 303 riffs, dreamy synth arpeggios and live percussion.

Cloud People go “Ever Wilder” in new EP

February 3, 2012
Cloud People - "Ever Wilder" - PATH8

Made From Trash

In the summer of 2001, Evan Wilder went dumpster diving and discovered a discarded collection of country records.

The sunniest sections of groove were lifted and embellished with synthesizer and delay into awe-filled rural anthems and Piney bass fun.

These tracks would be used in live Cloud People shows over the years. In 2011, Evan revisited some of the tracks by adding new synth lines, new guitars, vocals, improving the mix, and trying out some new tricks, to keep the tracks ... ever wilder.

Download the new EP: At Work gives away “My Property”

At Work - "My Property" - PATH7

2012 starts with some old live bangers and tricks developed for past Philadelphia Laptop Battles.

An interruption of Windows error warnings and alerts tease audiences with the spectacle of a live set riddled with laptop failure only to twist back into song structures. “Keep Calm” keeps the tension and volume up while inciting all to get down via a myriad of samples from the likes of Fatman Scoop, EBN, The Killing, Fergie and The KLF.

“Her Heart” is an inspired remix of Double‘s 1986 international success, “The Captain Of Her Heart”, which ended up getting a nod of approval from Double’s Kurt Maloo himself.

The cover art was remixed as well, in a collaboration between Positive Void Communications (PVC) and Nice Looking Designs. Via PVC, references were added to Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty’s surviving partnership under the name K2 Plant Hire Ltd.

A mobile broadcasting unit that PVC is involved with on Gimpo’s M25 25 Hour Spin, dubbed “The Junior Insurgent Transmitter Ensemble” (by none other than Jimmy Cauty), appears via logo daubed on the trash can. The Cult Of The Yellow Sign makes an appearance, in the form of a Self-Declared Autonomous Peace Zone sign.

Available for free.

Watch the video for the original US version of Double's "The Captain Of Her Heart".
